July 19th, 2020 - Newsletter #17
Dear Comrades and Friends of the Hanover Corps,
Another week has gone by and we have seen the blessings of the Lord in so many ways. We have entered phase 3 in our area of the Covid recovery plan and so now we can have gatherings of 50 in side, enter more restaurants wearing our masks and do more shopping wearing our masks on as well. It is slow, but it is getting better. I pray that each of you will slowly respond and keep protected and follow the guidelines as we continue to move forward.
On Sunday August 9th there will be a time to say ‘Farewell’ to Major Sterling. More details will be in the next newsletter as to what that will look like and the time it will take place as well.
I read that, “Happiness comes naturally in the same sense that fruit comes naturally from a tree. If the tree gets sufficient sunshine and water, if the ground is rich in nutrients, if the tree doesn’t contract diseases, then yes, it ‘naturally’ produces fruit. We must plant ourselves in the rich soil of God’s Word, soak in the living water of God and his people, and bask in the radiant sunlight of his grace. And then happiness will come naturally.” It can be a happy time if we want it to be! J Hope this gives you some ideas to reach out to each other during these days.
Do continue to pray for:
Ø Our Major’s – Alonzo, Lori, John, Elsie, Sterling
Ø Sandra’s daughter Nicole is doing better, so keep up with the prayers
Ø Captain’s Mark and Wendy Crabb in preparation to come to Hanover
Ø Covid 19 no active cases now in the Grey-Bruce area – Praise the Lord!
Ø Lisa’s family
Ø Continue to make contact with each other, but do wear a mask, keep your distance and wash your hands alot
Everything is moving along in our Family Services, ready to help each need that presents itself to us. Do keep Jennifer and Raoul in your prayers as they continues to work diligently to make the food banks safe for all involved. We have also completed the relocation of the Chesley Food Bank and it is now at the Chesley Community Church! This will provide more opportunities for secondary programming for the Chesley community.
Our Thrift Store is now into phase 3 and is working towards reopening at phase 5. This means we are close to opening the store near the end of this month or early August. Kathie continues into her fourth week of preparing the store for shoppers and is now able to use some volunteers in the physical preparation of making the store safe and to allow for distance shopping. Product is being received but nothing is being sold at this point in time.
Do check out our website for the recent sermon videos and the occasional musical video as well. Be safe. Keep your distance. Wash your hands.
Yours in Christ,
